Minjin explains the Khogno Khaan ruins. Beginning sometime before the 16th century, the site saw several periods of building and destruction as power swung between eastern and western Mongolia. One western leader wanted to kill the lama. He tied the monks together by their necks and pushed them off the mountian -- then destroyed the monastery. "Khogno" (or "Khugno") means "rope around neck".
